skydive update

Summer just keeps rolling on here at CSC! We are still seeing peak-season numbers in Freefall University with nearly 200 student jumps per week! The season still has 7 weekends left and we've already blown through our year 2000 records in every category.

Last weekend was exciting and busy on the DZ. To start off, The Today Show crew was here for nearly half the day for a segment they are doing on Meet Market Adventures. While they were here, NBC's Lee Cowan decided to make a jump with us.

Sunday was going to be another busy one, but the winds kept us on the ground for most of the day. We were, however, able to get a sunset demo jump in over Lake Forest, IL. Bagpipes and Bonfires is a traditional Scottish event. The organizers asked for 4 jumpers - 1 for every 10 years of the event. Special thanks to Lake Forest Open Lands Association.

Don't forget that Rich Madsen is organizing 10-way on Saturday. If you're interested in joining in, please contact Rich. Also, Rich will be running another 8-way camp on Saturday, October 13.

This weekend is the $17 Autumn Boogie. We will have both aircraft here flying all weekend. Come out for cheap jumps and some great chili...

Saturday is the 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off. Fire up those crock-pots as the competition is going to be fierce this year. Winner gets a free $23.00 skydive and a CSC shirt along with other prizes for runners-up. This weekend is also the video firewire exchange party. If you are planning to do a year-end video, come out and pick-up and share your video clips with everyone.

Also, we will be selling the demos off over the next month. If you are interested, please contact Doug. Don't forget we offer interest-free financing!

The Mexico New Years Boogie is shaping up and it looks like we're going to have a great turnout. Buy your airfare to Puerto Escondido today!!!

Congratulations:

Keep in mind that we are selling reloadable gift cards in Manifest and the CSC PROshop.

We typically do not send out things like this, but the following affects many of us as pilots and skydivers:

Congress is debating proposals that could cost us money as pilots, skydivers, and friends of general aviation. I have signed the AOPA petition against user fees and higher aviation gas taxes that will shift much of the burden of paying for our national aviation services to the small, individual flyers. This would further increase the costs of general aviation (and skydiving) to prohibitive levels for most people. Our ability, as Americans, to become pilots without unreasonable costs is one of the reasons our aviation system is the best in the World. Help keep the adventurous spirit alive and available for future generations by signing this petition before Congress is convinced to further subsidize major airlines to make flying cheaper and better for them while killing off what made flying what it is today for the individuals and small companies.
