skydive update

Last week was busy for us again as we finished up another week in Middletown, OH flying the Super Otter for Team Fastrax. We got back just in time to fly the sunset load after a busy day at CSC last Friday. We thought the weekend was going to be that perfect weather that we all feel we deserve after sitting on the ground for what seems like an eternity. The forecast thru us a curveball with a the winds on Saturday, but that didn't stop anyone as we flew nearly 50 loads throughout the weekend.

On Thursday night, we got word that the Midwest Skydiving League Playoffs would be moved to CSC. We were happy to see another MWSL competition before the season ended. Congratulations to all of the competitors and we look forward to following their standings at next months US Nationals in Eloy, AZ. Special thanks to Alan Butt for organizing the event and Todd Hawkins from Arizona Airspeed for visiting CSC.

As we've mentioned in the past, we are very proud of the load organizing staff that we have available to everyone here at CSC, but this past weekend was one of our proudest moments as one of our most senior load organizers was able to give Todd Hawkins pointers (before he knew that he was a member of the world champion team - Arizona Airspeed). Needless to say, he was a bit embarrased. Todd took the tips in stride and did his best apply them to the dive.

This past Saturday was one of the most incredible sunsets we've ever seen out here...

Sporto is coming to town this weekend, so plan on joining us for some great freeflying. Also, Saturday night, Aimee Wienkers is hosting one of her "parties" in the hangar. This event is specifically intended for the ladies out there, so mark your calendars and plan on being here. You don't want to miss it and then hear all the buzz 2nd hand on Monday...

Speaking of great load organizers:

As most of you know, the legendary Terry Gardner and his wife Janet have sold there home and are headed to sunny Arizona at the end of this month. I know that most of you have had the good fortune and opportunity to make many skydives with Terry. Over the years, he has participated in competition 4-way and made thousands of fun jumps with all of us and he has been mentor to most of us and has also been one of our favorite load organizers here at CSC. So in the skydiver tradition, we want to give him an appropriate send-off which, of course, includes food and plenty of alcoholic beverages. We have chosen to do this at the Hooters in Downers Grove located on Butterfield Road near I-355 and I-88. Wednesday at 7:00pm. I hope everyone will be able to come out and wish him a skydiver bon voyage.

Blue Skies,

KO

We hope to see everyone on Wednesday for $17 experienced jumps from the Super Otter. The forecast looks perfect and we have students scheduled.

Last week, a few of us headed over to Chicago Indoor Racing. I don't know why they keep putting themselves thru the humiliation. I dominated - again!

We've recently started a new advertising campaign throughout the downtown area. We are in over 100 bars, clubs, restaurants, and gyms. Where else better to advertise skydiving than the bathroom!

Congratulations:

Thanks:

Congratulations to Dale Muering and Smooth for representing CSC at the POPS World Record which took place in Perris Valley, CA.

We're down to 10 days for the Mexico Boogie deadline of October 1. We are seeing a ton of interest in this winter vacation, you don't want to miss it. A perfect chance to getaway or bring your family and friends with you. Most of us are departing Chicago O'Hare on December 25 at 3:00pm and returning late on January 2. We are planning a night of partying in Mexico City on Christmas night and then catch a flight to the beach on the 26th. The airfare is not cheap, but they will deliver us right to the dropzone. Once we are there, everything is very inexpensive - food, drinks, accomodation, etc.
